WHEN THE HEART IS FULL THE WORDS ARE FEW
Father Joy Paul Kallikattukudy celebrated 25 years of his ordination to priesthood on Saturday June 2nd at St Mark's church in Aylmer. Current and former parishioners and their families were joined by five clergy including Bishop Felix Toppo,SJ, visiting from the Diocese of Jamshedpur in Jharkhand, India. The church was packed for the Silver Jubilee celebration Mass which was followed by and international buffet enjoyed by all. Father Joy Paul was the Parish Priest at St. Mark’s from 2001 until 2007. He is now Associate Pastor at Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Labrador City, NL.

Father Joy Paul recounted how touched he was for the privilege of celebrating in the presence of friends, relatives and members of his parish community, "I am humbled by all of you honouring me on this Silver Jubilee... The Priesthood, like any other life is a journey with its ups and downs." With his characteristic self effacing humour, Fr Joy Paul recounted his journey to priesthood, "I never wanted to be a priest in fact, a friend brought me to the seminary...I was supposed to leave after my bachelor's degree...my friend left and I stayed." As parishioners laughed with him, Fr Joy Paul promised to keep the sermon short, "on the day of my ordination I recognized that my priesthood was not about me but for others. I am filled with gratitude and joy for all the people I have served and for the love, joy and blessings I have received."

As we sat down to share in the (incredibly) delicious buffet, it was evident that Fr Joy Paul had injected much love and compassion into our community and an atmosphere of gratitude emanated from all those present. Fr Joy Paul marked the occasion and cut a beautiful cake specially prepared for him by parishioners. (This is a report that came in one of the Newspaper. Curtsy: Ms. Rita Danis)

DIVYA BHARATI, CHAIBASA
We had a three days training programme, from 19-21 June, 2012, for the Lay Leaders and Catechists, in which 22 persons attended. Besides input on Faith Formation and Prayer, the inputs of Fr. Tom Nelli, assisted by the budding lawyer, Sch. Benjamin Lakra, on Legal Awareness helped them to gain knowledge of their legal rights. Fr. Clement Kujur also helped them to know about their Rights- especially Right to Information, Food, MNREGA-and the know-how of how to assert their Rights from the various Government Schemes available. The participants wanted to have more of such inputs. The presence and inputs of Bene Kichingia energized us all, especially the younger ones! Sr. Sunita, F.C., helped out in conducting a Marriage Preparation Programme for a couple from Lupungutu during this period. I made a quick trip to Mosaboni to help out Fr. Alphonse and was happy to see new HO families wanting to be a part of the St. Barbara’s Family there. Hats off to Fr. Alphonse, for his sustained and enthusiastic efforts, to make Christ known in the neighborhood. Finally, on the 30th of June, we had a One Day Training Programme conducted by Sr. Michael Ekka, OSU, for Krus Veer Animators, who were mostly from Chaibasa Deanery. Greetings !…. The month began with a positive note. Brothers Jayaraj and Birendra Tete reached papal seminary in the first week of June and began their Theology with an orientation programme. 8th was the day of Entrance Test for JDV in which they came up with flying colours, even though they had a couple of sleepless nights. Now, they have got adjusted with the new system and environment. I reached JDV on 10th of June and the following day was the inauguration of the academic year with a solemn Eucharist. After the Holy Mass, there was an inaugural programme, which is rather important for all of us. Prof. Job Kozhamthadam, SJ, who served JDV as Rector for the past six years, was given a grand and fitting farewell and the new Rector Fr. George Pattery, SJ, was installed as the Acting President of JDV. In the same programme, two academic centers were announced: JDV center of Ethics and JDV center for Science and Religion. Latter, two books on Marian doctrine, compiled by Pauline sisters, titled, “Mary, A History of Doctrine and Devotion” Vol. I and Vol. II were released. On 21st the Jamshedpur Jesuits and Diocesans welcomed the new comers at the province gathering. Scholastic Mukti of Jamshedpur Province is elected as the new Student Council President of JDV and was installed on 22nd of this month. JDV had organized annual ‘De Smet – De Marneffe Memorial lecture’ for all the philosophers. Prof. Christopher Key Chapple of Doshi Professor of Indic and Comparative Theology, Loyola Marymount University was the resource person. On 24th, Most Rev. Lourdu Daniel, Bishop of Nashik Diocese, has inaugurated a study house for the Capuchins of Maharashtra Province. The life here in JDV thus goes on and on smoothly.
